Grand Hyatt San Francisco

Union square is just steps from the entrance, so we could pop out for a few photos with the iconic San Francisco hearts. Inside, we were upgraded to a beautiful VIP suite with sweeping city views, and we got some lovely pictures while getting ready for our wedding day. The staff were kind and attentive from the moment we got out of the car. This is a long overdue review of our two night stay in July 2022. We always have a great experience at Hyatt properties, and the Grand Hyatt in SF will always be one of our fondest memories.

The front desk staff were very nice, and the service was good. But during my four night stay I developed allergy hives. I have a severe dust mite allergy, so it could have been dust from the AC or the carpet. Turning the AC off helped, and the hives still took a long time to clear up. The hotel said it would address the situation, but I never heard from anyone afterward. Given what I paid, I expected a decent level of cleanliness.

Our room was roomy, clean, and comfortable, and the soundproofing kept it peaceful despite the central location. The hotel is modern, elegant, and well maintained. Staff were friendly, professional, and efficient, so check-in and the rest of the visit went smoothly. Grand Hyatt San Francisco is right near Union Square, with shops, restaurants, and major sights all within walking distance. Everything felt organized and high quality, as you'd expect from a Grand Hyatt. It worked well for our family and business travel, and we'd happily return and recommend it.

The bed was terrific and I slept amazingly. I often stay at the Hyatt Regency SOMA, where the views are beautiful too, though the bed there, like at many Regencies, isn't great. The view here is one of the best in SF because there aren't many tall buildings nearby. SF is one of the most picturesque cities, at least from the 34th floor, haha. I've stayed at around 100 Hyatt properties as a Globalist, and this one lands in my top 25%. The rooms are on the small side, but normal for the area, and the bathroom being tucked around a corner is a nice touch. It could use renovation. The gym feels a bit undersized for a hotel of this size, though I never had to wait for anything. The location works well for business or sightseeing, and the staff were decent in my experience.
