Motel 6 San Francisco, CA - Lombard Street

After walking six miles by choice through torrential rain in San Francisco, I arrived early and the front desk gentleman kindly let me check in ahead of time. Thank you, thank you, thank you. The parking lot was clean and I was happy with my room. I would've liked a coffee pot, but the motel served its purpose even if it isn't a four-star hotel. I'd recommend it.

For the very affordable price, it was good enough. The rooms are clean and the staff polite, but they have only the bare basics. There's no mini fridge or microwave. The vending machine out front has drinks, snacks, and cup noodles, but no access to drinkable hot water or a way to heat any.

This was a horrible, massively overpriced stay. The floor hadn't been swept, and walking barefoot left my feet covered in black dirt that I had to wash off. The internet didn't work, and basic hotel items like a hair dryer, mini fridge, and microwave weren't provided. Someone was collecting a $10 parking fee in cash. The place had also double-booked the person ahead of me in line, who said he found another person already in his room. The location felt generally unsafe, with guests needing to be buzzed into the reception office, though that's not the hotel's fault. For all this, the price was outrageous.

No service. The older man was lazy, and the place was filthy, with mold and dirty, unmade bedding. Even basic upkeep was missing. I know it's a Motel 6, but this was pure filth. Customer service fought me on a refund, which I'm still waiting for after more than a month. I didn't sleep there.
