Motel 6-San Luis Obispo, CA - North

I’ve stayed at several Motel 6 locations, but this one wasn’t a good experience. The customer service was great, yet the room wasn’t as clean as others I’ve visited. The sheets didn’t seem properly cleaned, and the orange linen at the foot of the bed was covered in dirt. It was unpleasant even to look at. If you find the room dirty, let the staff know. I don’t think I’d book this particular hotel again.

**Edited after another check-in:** I checked in today and had to wait two hours because the room I’d booked still needed cleaning. ERIK got me a room and got right on it, so I didn’t have to wait any longer. We’ve stayed here a while and spent at least $25k at this motel alone, and he has shown EXCEPTIONAL customer service again and again. **Earlier review:** We’ve been staying here for an extended time while looking for a home. I’ve read some of the other reviews and was a little surprised. I wouldn’t stay if I thought it was sketchy. San Luis Obispo is one of the safest cities to live in, and Motel 6 North feels perfectly safe. The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean, and the price is the lowest in town, especially with pets. I see nothing wrong with the motel. Diego and Eric at the front desk are exceptional with customer service. Kayla the GM has been amazing to us and her staff. Housekeeping and maintenance are friendly and accommodating too.

The whole staff is great, from the front desk to maintenance and housekeeping, especially Diego. You’re a great employee, keep it up. I’ve stayed here before when there was no cable, no hot water, and the A/C wasn’t working, and I never complained. The one time I did complain was about an all-day power outage, and Jack, the previous manager, compensated me. This time, the manager accused me of renting for other people. I have never rented a hotel for anyone else. I had a three-hour whatnot broadcast in my rented room, which we promoted the motel during, and video of the room being cleaned on the day I left. Valuables stayed in the room throughout my visit. My business partner left at 8pm and came back at 7:30am to pick up his things. The manager told me that even a business visitor who left at 8pm had to be registered. She lied to my face on camera, and said I was renting for others. I have no respect for her word or her professionalism. As long as you don’t have to deal with her, your stay should be great. Skanless move Kayla.

The worst part was paying $200 per room for a dirty place with no toilet seat. We were there for graduation, and it was the cheapest option, but I expected better from a Motel 6. The small rooms themselves were manageable. One of the two rooms we booked smelled of smoke, even though the reservation was for a family with kids. I know guests can smoke in rooms, but staff could air it out or avoid assigning it to a family with children. The non-carpeted rooms looked great in the photos, but I found hair in the corners. There was mold all over the shower, and our bathroom had no toilet seat. Management wouldn’t even replace an eight-dollar seat from Home Depot. A room for four had only two towels, and the beds were pushed against the wall, leaving no room for anything else. Having a grumpy pregnant woman at the front desk on the busiest weekend seemed like a poor management decision. I understand you can’t discriminate, but management could have found a kinder, smarter arrangement for her. I won’t recommend this place or stay again.
