For my NETRA off-road motorcycle event, I needed somewhere quiet to sleep and safe to park, and this old-school motel gave me both. It's spotless and a great deal, less than half what better-known hotels nearby charge. It's the best-kept secret in southern Maine, and I'd recommend giving it a try.

The owner or manager was very polite and professional, and the motel was clean and well cared for, without the musty smell you get in many beach motels. The price was affordable compared with other places nearby. The beach was surprisingly close too: the ten-minute drive on small-town back roads was much quicker than getting stuck on rte1. I'd recommend it for a nice beach stay.

The one good thing was that it was clean. Everything else made for a terrible stay. The owner, a man, was rude, and they require housekeeping. He even told me how to use the towels. I'm 46, I know how to use a towel, lmao. There's no coffee maker or toaster, and no dresser for clothes. If you like rude, this is your place.

The cleaning crew kept checking whether we had everything we needed, and the rooms were clean and updated. The owner was professional, and the location was great. The whole property was better than most hotels in the Portland area. It's my favorite place to stay in all of Maine. I wish I could post pictures to show how nice the rooms looked.

I had a great time here and would stay again. The motel has that quaint, old-time feel, with exterior doors, and the rooms feel like stepping back in time. It's a bit dated, but extremely clean. Sanford doesn't have many hotel choices, but I'd pick this place even if there were more. Still wondering why I can't post photos.
