West Cliff Inn - A Four Sisters Inn

The friendly staff made us feel welcome, and the included breakfast was great. We also enjoyed the afternoon wine from the West Cliff. The clean, comfortable Inn was convenient to the places we wanted to go. I'd recommend it for a quick, easy getaway.

We had a good couple of nights at this inn for my birthday, even though a storm meant we couldn't use half the things we'd packed for a full weekend of hiking. We still managed some short runs between showers, saw a giant rainbow, and enjoyed how cozy the place was. The people were pleasant, the bed was awesome, and the room was warm, but opening the windows and switching on the provided fan cooled it quickly. Remember to turn off the fireplace at night, even in early January. The room was on the small side, and we had to watch our feet around the furniture. It only happened once. I forgot my Crocs and asked for bedroom slippers, but they didn't have any. Even dollar-store slippers would've been a nice touch. The location near downtown was great. There's a nearby lagoon that's nice to walk through, fairly large, and where you can spot animals in summer. Seal Point is about a 20-minute walk south, with lots of surfers and fun places to get down to the water. There's also a nearby trail for biking and running. Breakfast was awesome: egg bites or a quiche-like dish, fruit, yogurt, house-made granola, juice, coffee, and tea. We only made it to the 4:30 wine and cheese hour once, since we were usually out and about then. The wine was pretty good, the cheese seemed like it might be from Costco, and the cookies were awesome. We ate about six between us. The downstairs fridge also has Cokes, sparkling water, apples, and pears available 24/7. The fireplace makes the room super cozy, and it turns out sleeping in is one of the main activities at a bed and breakfast. If you can, avoid staying Sunday night because the garbage trucks on Monday morning are quite noisy. Still, it's a nice place to stay in Santa Cruz.

Everything was close by, including restaurants, the beach, and the boardwalk. Breakfast was great, and so were the wine, cheeses, and other afternoon snacks. We also met family traveling from Wisconsin. Highly recommend it.

My spouse and I stayed for our anniversary and were given a complimentary upgrade. The room had a private balcony and an easy-to-use fireplace. This is an adorable, quiet inn with only 10-11 rooms, so each room has its own parking spot. Other guests were respectful and quiet, and it's a beautiful building in a nice spot near the wharf and dining options. Luna deserves a shout-out for carrying our bags upstairs. There are drinks in the lobby fridge, breakfast in the morning, and cookies in the afternoon. If you're interested, Surf School Santa Cruz offers reasonably priced private lessons. We had a great stay and wished we'd booked another night.
