The rain made tent camping a bad plan, so we booked the yurt village at the last minute and stayed in the halibut room. Neither of us had tried a yurt before, and we loved it. The fish-themed room was our favorite part, with the decor, books, and puzzle adding a nice touch. It stayed really warm, much better than a tent in all that rain. Being able to cook breakfast in the kitchen was handy, too. The village was harder to find than the inn, but an employee spotted us going past the inn and helped us with directions. If we’re in Seward again, we’d definitely look into staying here. We’ll recommend it for sure.

The common room was cozy and comfortable, and I enjoyed chatting with some of the other guests. They also offer complimentary self-serve breakfast. Adrienne went out of her way to accommodate me. For my late September visit to Seward in the shoulder season, this hostel and inn was a great budget option with quality accommodations, really close to town. I’d recommend it.

This was the best hostel experience we’ve had in Alaska. Everything was clean, organized, and well stocked, and Adrienne and the other staff were friendly and helpful. We used it as a great base for a few days exploring the Seward area, and we’ll definitely stay again.

I like to travel on the fly, so I booked pretty late. My host was incredibly welcoming and understanding, helped me find the place, and even called to check I’d made it there okay. It was my first trip to the land of the midnight sun, and all the unfamiliar stuff had us a bit thrown. The door on my room was working, but sometimes it was hard to open. They offered me an upgrade for free. When my plans changed again and I wanted another night, they let me keep the room at the same rate. On top of that, I was given a sticker for my travel journal and a Men of Alaska calendar. That’s why I’m now in my third year of ordering the calendar. I can’t recommend The Naughty Otter highly enough. I’m trying to get my group to come back for a yurt retreat in 2027. It’d be a joy.

The kitchen was fully equipped, with a stove, oven, cooking gear, a full-size fridge for labeled groceries, and ice for drinks or water bottles. Breakfast was lovely too, with complimentary tea, coffee, and waffles. The communal showers had plenty of hot water, and the quick cleaning routine afterward helped them feel hygienic. We stayed in the humpback shack, which was so cozy, and the bedding was incredibly comfortable. We got a great night's sleep. Staff were friendly and informative, and there was a campfire area with plenty of wood. It's a 10-15 minute drive from Seward's amenities, with lots of hiking trails nearby. We loved our stay at the Nauti Otter and will definitely return if we're in the area.
