We’ve usually had good stays here, and being right by the airport is so handy when we fly out of Sioux Falls. This time, though, was awful. I’d asked for a ground floor room because relatives staying the night before told us the elevator was out. That part was fine, but the bed was another story. My husband and I were itchy all night, with red, irritated skin, almost like an allergic reaction. We had a very early flight and barely slept. We didn’t try to move because it was late, we had a lot of luggage, and the elevator was out. After showering, we felt better, so we think something on the bed or bedding caused it, maybe mold or heavy dander on the mattress. I told the desk clerk, but he did nothing. We really want this place to do well and love how convenient it is, but it’ll be a while before we come back. I think a refund should have been offered. I may dispute the charge with the credit card company. We were exhausted and cranky through our travel day, then needed another day to make up for the sleep we lost. I hope they make some changes.

The staff member was great about the problem with my room. There was hair on the sheets and a few small stains, and they apologized and moved me to another room right away. Breakfast was pretty minimal, so I got a muffin and yogurt at the airport instead, for $10.

We always find our room at AeroStay clean and comfortable. Since getting older, we’ve come to appreciate keeping winter travel simple, and staying at the airport the night before a flight makes a big difference. When we travel from Watertown and fly out of Sioux Falls, booking there is easy. The extra cost feels worthwhile for the peace of mind, a little more sleep, breakfast, and being able to walk straight to our gate.

This worked well with my 5:20 am flight, and the room was clean. The TV wouldn’t work, though, and the receptionist didn’t know how to fix it.
