Travelodge by Wyndham Spirit Lake/Okoboji

I liked having a chair right outside the room where I could read, eat breakfast, or chat with people. It was quiet, too, with hardly any traffic or other outside noise, so I slept well. The owners were friendly, thoughtful, and accommodating. Rooms are clean but on the small side and a little dated, though updates are underway. Seems like a handy stop for motorcyclists or groups.

Parking right by the door made unloading easy, including for anyone with mobility issues. Our room felt safe and peaceful, and we couldn't hear the other guests. It was simple but had the basics like a fridge, TV, and coffeemaker, and it was clean. The place was unexpectedly charming and well cared for, with colorful flowers outside the rooms. Sunny gave us a warm welcome to town, and I appreciated that guests were spaced out since the hotel wasn't full. For Okoboji, it was an affordable little find. I'd stay again and recommend it to travelers, families with kids, and couples.

Good value and location, with a decent breakfast. The owner was helpful and friendly, and my room was clean. I stayed four nights and had no complaints.

The room was $133, but felt like a $50 room. It smelled moldy, and the mattress edges were so worn down that it was hard to stay on the bed. Worst bed I've ever slept on.
