We booked a Valentine’s date night, and the hotel planning was terrible. I called to ask when check-in was and was told 3 a.m. A show ran late, so we got there at 3:45. The check-in line took nearly half an hour, then we were told our room wouldn’t be ready until around 6. We had dinner at 5, so I had to change in the lobby restroom. During dinner we got a text saying the room was ready. When we returned, the king room with a balcony we’d booked wasn’t available. They gave us a two-queen room without a balcony instead. To the clerk’s credit, they gave us a $40 food credit. Room service was meant to end at 10:30, but when we called at 9:30 we were told it had already stopped. We could use it for breakfast the next morning. The room was clean, and the staff were friendly, especially considering it must’ve been a bad night for them too. I’m guessing the hotel was overbooked, and that they had a staff shortage. Maybe on a less busy night it’s a nice hotel, but I expected a better experience.

The food was lovely, though pricey, and I thought it was worth what we paid. Our room had a nice view, and the restaurant service was great. Gia was our waitress, very sweet and patient, even with Valentine’s Day and the following night when we stayed too. I’d recommend going for the food, but I wouldn’t stay again. Housekeeping never came to our room, and the hotel service wasn’t great. The heated pool package cost $50 and included two robes, a penguin key chain, and two drink tokens, with pool access only from 5 to 10 p.m. I felt that was highway robbery. We paid for it around 2 p.m. the day after Valentine’s Day. At about 5:45 or 6, we went down to get our robes before swimming, but eight schools from different states had arrived and only one person was at the front desk. After almost an hour in line, we were told there were no robes left. The package rules said both robes had to be in the room at checkout or we’d be charged another $45. That wasn’t even the main reason we were upset. I assumed they were saving robes for the hundreds of people who had just arrived, but it was first come, first served. Since we’d paid before the schools showed up, they should’ve told us earlier that there were no robes. When the gentleman said there weren’t any, I politely asked for a refund. He then called housekeeping to send robes to our room. I didn’t appreciate feeling like he might have lied, but I was glad we got the robes and wouldn’t risk the extra charge.

The Pavilion view was the one real bright spot in our jacuzzi suite. The room smelled really bad, and there was leftover garbage stuffed behind the TV and shelf. The light above the jacuzzi didn’t work, and menu options were limited. The staff were pleasant, but the surroundings felt chaotic and noisier than we wanted for a night out with my husband. This place feels lower-scale than The Historic and The Grand Davenport hotels, and honestly shouldn’t carry The Davenport name. We won’t book here again.

The inside of our room was clean and nice, and its location near the lobby put us close to the nice walking path into Spokane and the Podium. But the lobby was loud until midnight, so on a busy weekend I’d ask for a room farther away. We were there for a sold-out basketball event, and the hotel wasn’t ready for that kind of weekend. The second day they had no shower towels, so we got towels like pool towels. I had booked two rooms ahead, but they were overbooked and one wasn’t available. They put me in a room that didn’t work for our group, and one of our guests had to sleep on a cot, which wasn’t comfortable or ideal. The front manager was unpleasant to deal with and had poor customer service skills.

We’re locals and booked a Spokane staycation, but the whole visit was a huge disappointment. Even though check-in started after 4, we arrived at 5:05 and waited until 6:10 to reach the desk. No one explained how to find the room or pool, and there was no apology or real help. We hurried to the Centennial restaurant at 6:15, hungry and hoping to use the pool as part of the Chill Experience package. Nobody greeted us, most tables were dirty, and we had to clear a plate to sit. Menus came about 10 minutes later, and our food didn’t arrive until 7:40. My husband eventually found the waitress and asked her to box it up when it was ready, since we needed the check and I was going to change for the pool. Again, no apology. We had pool access from 5 to 10 and lost more than two hours of that time after paying extra for it. The room had blood on the sheets, a squashed bug on the wall, and a gross shower stain. The desk offered to move us or give us fresh sheets to put on ourselves. We didn’t want to handle the blood, so we packed up and changed rooms. We wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.
