Days Inn by Wyndham Battlefield Rd/Hwy 65

Zero stars from me. I was very disappointed and would never recommend this motel. The room was in terrible shape, with visibly stained sheets and a strong smell of dog urine and feces. They gave us a pet room without telling us, presenting it as a regular one, and it was almost impossible to stay comfortably. I got sick after staying there, which made the experience even worse. The complimentary breakfast was awful too. The scrambled eggs smelled foul and seemed spoiled. Cleanliness, service, and food quality were all unacceptable. This is the worst motel in Springfield, MO, in my opinion.

After driving for 10 and a half hours, it was frustrating to be told at check-in, around 5 p.m., that I’d been assigned a pet room I hadn’t booked. I said I didn’t want it, but the clerk said that was all they had and that they were sold out. Yet when I checked online from the room, there were still rooms listed for sale. Earlier that day I’d received an email promising great service; when I brought it up, she said those emails were automatic. She also told me I could go stay somewhere else. I’d booked ahead so I wouldn’t have to hunt for a room after a long drive. The room itself was fine, if a bit worn and not looking as clean as it might. The whole thing was frustrating.

Breakfast was sparse: cold hard-boiled eggs, cold biscuits and gravy, cereal, and juice. We also heard what sounded like elephants jumping around above our room. I called at 10 p.m. to report it, and was told it would be addressed. The noise finally stopped at 11, but then someone started vacuuming at 11 p.m. We called again because we were trying to sleep and asked whether vacuuming at that hour was really necessary. Check-in with my service dog took 20 minutes, and the person checking us in asked what service the dog provided. I told them that was illegal to ask. The room was outdated. I won’t stay again. I’ve had better amenities and customer service at both cheaper and higher-end hotels. I wasn’t impressed at all!

The one thing going for this place is that IMAX is close enough to walk to. The rest was a letdown: the rooms weren't clean, the mattresses had deep grooves that felt like sleeping in a ditch, and I couldn't find a clear off switch on the AC units. The bathrooms and rooms look unremodeled and badly need gut renovations. The building is only in mediocre shape, with a very low-budget feel even for a Days Inn. I don't usually leave bad reviews, but this place...
