Econo Lodge I-44 - Exit 80

Check-in was quick, and someone greeted me as soon as I walked in. The room was good and the bed very comfortable. The hot shower had nice water pressure, though the writing on the air conditioner had worn off, so I had to guess at the controls for a minute or two. The door lock was finicky, but worked if I pushed the door in. There should have been an outlet by the desk; I ended up pulling the TV stand out and using the power strip. Check-out was quick too. I’d recommend this place.

I called ahead before arriving in the evening and asked them to clean under the beds because my nervous dog likes to hide there. I’d stayed before and it was okay, but the room had been dirty underneath the beds, so I wanted to make sure this time. I’m not picky, and I understand the rooms are older, but I just want a clean room. After an 800-mile drive, I checked beneath both beds and found empty soda bottles, baby lotion, food crumbs, pennies, and tissues. I used to do housekeeping, and that area is supposed to be cleaned. If it hadn’t been so late, I would’ve checked out.

The room was clean, and the beds were really comfortable. The food was there and tasted good, which made the stay nicer, and it was definitely better than the Quality Inn and Suites! I booked an accessible room with two beds, but at check-in he gave us an accessible room with one queen. He moved us right away to a smoking, non-accessible room. I was okay with that since it meant I didn’t have to share a bedroom with my 25y/o son. That’s why I’m giving it four stars.

The staff were polite, helpful, and very nice, and breakfast was decent. The room was outdated and needed repairs, though. The floor was extremely dirty, the room smelled like wet dog, and I even found kibble on the floor. There were cigarette burns on all the blankets and sheets.
