On my first night, my socks came away completely black, and the towels and washcloths looked like they’d been used to clean a car. I took them to the desk, where they apologized and said they’d tell the manager and send maintenance to mop. Nobody came. The next day I asked a housekeeper for a mop; she didn’t speak English, and a little girl who looked about three translated. They use a dirty dust mop for every room instead of wet-mopping, so I got my own mop and cleaned the room myself. I still had to inspect the towels every day because they kept being dirty. We were there for 18 nights and paid $2,700, about $156 a night. I’d stayed once before and had a good experience, but this time the clerk called the price a “good deal,” and I told him it was a good deal for them. The manager never called or came to speak with us, even though I went to the desk twice asking for management. On several days there were no room supplies, so after working until 1 a.m. I had to go downstairs to get them. For that price, I expected better service and some effort to keep customers coming back.

We found three cockroaches as soon as we entered the room, then a dozen more appeared during the night. The TV buttons only partly worked, the remote belonged to a different TV, and the room phone had no buttons, so it was useless. The building felt run down, the elevator was a little scary, and the staff were mediocre at best. The details online when we booked didn’t match what the front desk told us, and the staff wouldn’t accommodate us when we asked about it. For what it cost, I expected more, or at least a room without roaches. I’d never stay here again or recommend it, even in an emergency. I would have preferred sleeping in the car.

The room was small, but having a fridge and hair dryer was handy, and the front desk staff were really friendly. Breakfast was good too. Still, the air conditioner barely worked, and the carpet stayed mysteriously damp for most of our two-day visit. I can live with dated furniture, but the room was falling apart: shredded lamp shades, broken tiles, and an odd strip of plaster hanging from the ceiling. I booked online, then the desk charged more than the booking total. The website eventually refunded the extra amount, but those hidden fees were frustrating. I don’t expect much from a cheap place, but this one disappointed me.

I had to go to Dollar Tree for cleaning supplies and clean the bathroom before we could shower or use the toilet. The room smelled like cigarette smoke and hadn’t been cleaned properly. The restroom walls and furniture were dirty, really the whole room was. At least the bedding was clean. The front desk clerk wasn’t very pleasant. She rolled her eyes at a few questions, I guess because she hears them all day, but it came across as unprofessional. I won’t rent a room here again.
