Spark by Hilton Traverse City

The room was clean and nice, and the price was the best in the area, so it felt like great value. They don't serve a hot breakfast, just cereal, which was okay. We'd definitely stay again. And yes, the toilet paper was fabulous. Little things make a difference, bet you haven't seen that in a review before!

I expected more from Hilton, which I've thought of as a higher end, almost luxurious option. I've stayed at many Hilton locations around the country, but this was my first Spark, and the experience didn't meet that expectation. As we pulled in, a guest services employee was smoking outside the front doors with an older man who wasn't an employee. She asked if we were checking in, put out her cigarette, then followed us inside to check us in. She was otherwise very sweet and professional, but with no-smoking signs everywhere, that was disappointing. The smell lingers, so it felt as though she'd been smoking inside. It made the place feel like an undesirable Chicago neighborhood. There was also a distinct weed smell on our floor, which felt disappointing and unsettling.

The hotel is quiet and set back from the road, with very friendly staff and clean, updated, comfortable rooms. It's a light breakfast and a no-frills Hilton experience, but I'd stay again if I were in the area. It's a little farther out from downtown, though Old Mission Point is still less than 30 minutes away and downtown TC is 15 minutes away.

I stayed one night and had no real complaints. The rooms and bathroom were clean and up to date, and breakfast was basic but good, the usual hotel breakfast. My husband would say the slow elevator was his only complaint. The front desk was always pleasant and welcoming, and I'd definitely stay again. I nearly didn't book because the reviews weren't great, but I prefer Hilton hotels and have never had issues with them.
