Westgate Luxury Condominiums

The location and condo were ok, but we had nothing but trouble after arriving. We were locked out of the condo for over an hour because the company has no after-hours staff on site. We had to wait for the on-call representative to arrive. Watching TV was another problem. I had to go to a local establishment to watch the NFL games on Saturday because I couldn’t watch them in the condo. I wouldn’t recommend this complex to anyone. A local hotel would have been better.

The location is amazing, the amenities are great, and the on-site staff are super friendly and helpful. But there’s a major problem with how they do business. I waited almost a year to write this, because I was so upset that I wanted to cool off first. Last football season, about a week before my booked football weekend, Westgate called and asked, “you don’t still need your room for this coming weekend do you?” I’d booked almost a year ahead and asked why I wouldn’t. They said the condo owner wanted to use the unit I’d reserved, so I was out of luck and they couldn’t do anything, even though I had a reservation. I did get my money back, but had no room, and had planned to spend time with my daughter, who goes to school there. I can’t believe a reputable business would handle it that way. It’s a great place to stay if you’re okay with possibly being left without a room if they decide to cancel your reservation at their discretion.

After living in Tuscaloosa for 46 years, I recently moved to Georgia and came back “home” to host a luncheon. A friend suggested Westgate for a short term rental, which I hadn’t realized they offered. I booked a 1 bedroom for my husband and me, and our 3 night stay was almost flawless. The only hiccups were check-in and online grocery ordering. Alice Maxwell, the Managing Realtor and a family friend, quickly sorted them out, and we went up to unit #603. We were immediately pleased when we opened the door. The furnishings are attractive, and the 1 bedroom 1.5 bath unit is very spacious. For a cook, the kitchen is a dream, with high end appliances and all the equipment needed to cook and serve. It was very clean, and there were lots of fresh, fluffy white towels. We were there on an off football weekend, and it was impressively quiet. We worked out in the fitness center and entertained on the roof one night. It was delightful. We look forward to coming back, and I highly recommend Westgate.

The rooms are beautiful, the amenities are top notch, and the roof tailgating setup and sky club are fantastic. Great food and great fun, all in the shadow of the stadium. Don’t miss staying at the Westgate!
