Super 8 by Wyndham Waynesboro

We spent about three weeks here, my father and I, and I won’t come back. The worst part was how the staff treated us. Most acted like we were a nuisance even though we kept to ourselves. Keni, the manager, was hateful and never spoke to me. The only person who was kind to me was an older white woman who usually worked evenings or nights at the front desk. Housekeeping also kept pushing to enter and do things like make the beds and vacuum every two days, which we didn’t need and found intrusive while trying to relax. The room and building had plenty of problems too. The microwave didn’t work, hot water was hit or miss, caulking was missing in the bathroom, and mineral buildup on the showerhead made water spray everywhere. The mattress cover had large brown stains, and the carpet was so dirty it turned white socks black within minutes. The hotel smelled moldy and stinky, with a marijuana odor. Every night, people were put in the rooms above us and stomped and slammed things all day and night. They weren’t full, so I can’t help wondering if this was spite. Why put people right above us? The continental breakfast was pathetic, just apple and orange juice and coffee, plus yogurt that was 5-10+ days past its date. The apple juice machine dropped black chunks into the drink, as if nobody knew when it had last been cleaned. One night my blood sugar was low because I’m diabetic, so I asked the desk for a cup of that moldy apple juice. I was yelled at and told, “ITS ONLY FOR BREAKFAST.” My father and I had spent $2000+ to stay there for the last month, yet they couldn’t spare a tiny cup. The hateful staff and housekeeping made everything worse. Save your money and go somewhere else.

The front desk woman was really helpful and friendly. Our room seemed clean, but the sheets on both beds were stained. We killed a cockroach the first night, so we skipped the continental breakfast. When we got home, we left our suitcase and clothes outside because we were afraid of bringing roaches indoors.

The room was tidy and the bed was comfortable. The Night Auditor was so helpful that check-in went smoothly.

Checking in with the front desk lady felt like I was bothering her. She was really rude, and when I asked the next day to swap towels, she let out the loudest sigh. She’s also constantly vaping outside the front entrance.
