The Beach Rose Inn

After 8 or 9 pm, checking in meant calling from outside the main door and doing it yourself. That was a hassle. The room was small, and you couldn’t hear a thing from next door, even when they used the shower. The carpet was very old. I wouldn’t call it a good experience, but you can make do if you have no other option.

Getting checked in remotely was the only unusual part. Once I was in my room, it was pleasant, clean, and comfortable. They said coffee was available in the lobby, but there wasn’t any. I’d happily stay again.

The location is great, but the parking lot was as crooked as the building, and the price was far too high. We had to knock for 20 minutes at the deadbolted front door before someone came to let us in and check us in. The room sloped so badly that my Stanley slid off the table onto the floor. We had to ask for books to prop up its feet. Stepping out of the raised shower/tub was hazardous, and I nearly fell. It was several inches above the bathroom floor, with no grab bars, though it looked like normal height. The carpet looked like a crime scene, the beds felt straight out of the 70s, and the place seemed not to have been maintained or dusted since then. My aunt and I started sneezing within five minutes. The AC filter looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in probably three years. I cleaned it, but we both woke up sick with sore throats. There was someone at the front desk one day; we got fresh towels, but they didn’t take the old ones or empty the garbage. The place seems badly mismanaged and needs an investor buyout. Motel 6 is much cleaner and higher quality.

Check-in was fine, the bathroom was clean, and the bedding was generally clean and comfortable. Still, the room looked nothing like the website photos. The decor was old, and it could use updating. The carpet badly needed vacuuming, so I tried not to walk on it without shoes. There were leftovers from previous guests in the refrigerator, and the patio door to outside was open and unlocked when I arrived. My stay wasn’t as bad as some reviews describe, but staff taking more care with cleaning would make a big difference.
