Sunset Inn and Suites

We used to stay here all the time and came back for nostalgia, but they wouldn’t give me a room even though I was paying the full amount in cash. The total was $150, $100 for the room and $50 deposit. They said the deposit had to be paid by credit card. I asked about getting a refundable deposit, since as far as I knew a credit card payment wasn’t refundable. I’ve never heard of requiring a deposit on a credit card.

I arrived very late before a flight the next day. The room was fine, older but clean and without any smells, and I felt safe despite the location not being in the best part of town. The man at the counter was quite friendly. There’s a Del Taco nearby that’s open 24/7.

If all you need is a bed, this is it. Mine had no fitted sheet, the oven wasn’t hooked up to gas, and the TV was so old that the picture looked blurry. The bathroom door hit the bed when opened. Coffee at the continental breakfast was as weak as tea, like whoever made it either didn’t drink coffee or hadn’t read the instructions.

The neighborhood around the property felt sketchy, and I wouldn’t walk very far from the hotel, though I’d stay here again. The rates were great, the rooms were clean and well cared for considering the building’s age, and a good shopping center is less than a mile away. The owner and his wife were considerate and professional, and went out of their way to make me comfortable.
