Calypso Boutique Hotel

The location is absolutely fantastic, right by the boardwalk, and the efficiency unit had enough room for the two of us. The room was a little rough around the edges, but very clean. They’re upgrading the flooring now, and maybe other things too. Sandra at the front desk was warm and personable. Since I booked third-party, I didn’t realize there was one shared front desk, so I was confused when the Calypso didn’t have one on site. After that mix-up, everything went smoothly. Call them direct if you stay here. They’ll give you the check-in details and probably a better rate than the one posted. They don’t have an official website for booking.

The location alone gets this place 5 stars from me. It’s on the main strip beside the boardwalk and beach, maybe 500ft away. Walk out, turn left, and you’re in the sand or on the boardwalk playing games. The rooftop deck was empty the whole time we were there, so take advantage of it, especially on a fireworks night. It has the best fireworks view there is! The woman in the office will write out a great list of things to do if you ask her where to go. Staff were so accommodating. There’s a pool across the street that wasn’t crowded, plus grills all over for cooking. Who else does that? We’ll definitely be back. Only drawback I found was a TV cabinet with no TV, lol. I could’ve said something, but I didn’t really care. The rest of the place was great.

Housekeeping was attentive and really friendly, and the rooms were clean and spacious. The boardwalk is just a 3 minute walk away. Loved Calypso, and I’ll stay again!

I booked in March through booking.com and was supposed to get have Clarem happy days, but on my arrival day, July 14th, I was told they’d moved me to one of their other hotels. Then I had to move my car to be closer. I’m angry because I’d booked months ahead, and it wasn’t right to move me just because someone else cancelled their trip. The location is why I gave 2 stars overall. The room was extremely tiny and awful to open and shut. It was hard to move around, there was no table, so I had to eat on the floor. The shower curtain leaked everywhere. I paid for a queen bed, but it was definitely full size. Things need to be a lot more updated.
