Colonial Motel

I lost $139 from a room that cost over $200. On the day my cancellation deadline ended, I called, but nobody answered and it sounded like the phones were dead. The website wouldn’t let me cancel either, so I had to cancel a day late because there was no way to get through.

The desk attendant was so kind that she mailed my son’s brand new sweatshirt back after he left it in the room at checkout. We had a really pleasant weekend stay on 6.20.25. Our room was well cared for, the pool was nice, and the price was very affordable. Being right on the strip was great too. We’ll definitely come back.

We left after only half an hour because the musty smell in the room was too strong. We checked in at 3 pm and checked out at 3:30 pm, so I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone with respiratory issues. All sales are final. The motel is on the strip, with a car wash and laundromat out front, restaurants nearby, and a Kwik Trip close by. Inside, though, the bathroom didn’t look like the pictures. The toilet was outdated but clean, and the shower area was clean, but the rusty metal drain had white paint over it and seemed sharp enough to cut someone. The carpet felt sticky, the headboard was dusty, and the little fridge was very old. The door had only one lock. The pool was advertised as heated, but the water was cold, the bottom of the pool area looked like it was chipping, and the waterslide wasn’t working. The woman at the front desk also had a bad attitude when we arrived.

We’ve come back for our third or fourth year in a row because this is our favorite place to stay in the Dells. The price is great, the staff are super friendly, and we love the pool and the location near downtown. It’s clean, with soft sheets and pillows, plus a microwave and fridge. The rooms aren’t the Ritz, but you’re not paying Ritz prices either, and you won’t beat it for the money. If you just want somewhere relaxing to sleep without breaking the bank, it’s worth a look.
