Dells Park Motel

The staff were friendly and quickly fixed an issue we had with the TV. Our room was clean, the air conditioning worked, and the condition was decent, though nothing fancy. We only got two bath towels and one hand towel for our group of four. The location was great, with lots of restaurants, shops, activities, and more within walking distance.

The location was great, within walking distance of the strip, and we appreciated when the manager came up and installed a new air conditioning unit after we reported the broken one. But our room reservation was for a suite, and he initially put us in a regular room. We had to go back and point out that it wasn’t what we’d paid for. He said the suite was booked by someone else, but finally gave us the room we were supposed to have after we stood our ground. After a long day, I climbed into bed and felt something scratch my leg. Under the covers was a full toenail clipping and several strands of very dark, long hair. The bedding clearly hadn’t been changed since the previous guests. That was disgusting and ruined any good feelings I’d had about the place. It was late and we were exhausted, so we slept on top of the comforter. I always bring my own pillows and blanket for this reason, but we won’t be back.

This is a simple, clean, safe motel, and the fridge worked. A working fridge is handy for cold drinks, at least. We’d paid double to stay at Great Wolf Lodge, where our fridge was out of service for our one-night stay. We told the desk before going to the Waterpark for four hours, but nobody came to fix it, so we left it alone. This motel was better than expected. The woman at the desk was kind and pleasant, and when I asked for a ground floor room, one was available, which made it easy to get to the car. We stayed a night after Great Wolf because we wanted another day and night to explore Dells with my kids. I’d been here many times as a kid. The place isn’t pretty or well known like Days Inn or Holiday Inn, but it was quieter than the pounding noise above our floor at Great Wolf. It’s kid-friendly and walking distance to the actual strip, so you can save $5 on parking. We also got five tickets to Noah's Ark for $20 per person, a great deal in the last two days the park was open. No frills, but the nightly price is hard to beat, and it gives you the same sort of experience as any basic motel or hotel. Stay here and save.

We used our stay for the Wilderness wristbands, and the motel cost a third of what Wilderness did, with no two-night minimum. The room was extremely clean, and the staff were especially friendly and helpful. It’s a perfect place if you plan to spend time downtown. We had a positive experience overall and will probably make it our summer spot when we want to visit the water park.
