Dazzler by Wyndham Montevideo

The location is the one thing I liked, but the elevators were nearly always crowded, with many Brazilian guests around. Twice, I saw dog urine on the elevator floor because the hotel is “pet friendly.” The rooms needed better upkeep. The shower leaked from the side and left water all over the floor, pressure was weak, and it was difficult to get the hot and cold water right. The keys stopped working every three days, so I had to go back to the front desk to have them reprogrammed. The hallway carpets were very dirty and badly stained. Breakfast was mediocre, with artificial orange juice and very few choices. Room service wasn’t much better. The woman who made the bed always seemed in a rebellious, bad mood, and I had to keep asking for extra towels and fresh sheets. They wouldn’t clean the room unless I hung the “room service” sign on the door. Even with its good location, I won’t stay here again.

Good spot for catching buses to the old town, and you can walk to Pocitos beach. The beds were comfortable, but the rooms could use refurbishing. Breakfast was fine for a day or two, though it seemed exactly the same each morning. The outdoor pool on the top floor only opens from November to March, so outside those months there aren’t any views from there. It’s okay, just not dazzling.

The customer service was awful. I messaged on Whatsup to ask about renting 4 rooms and got no reply, even though the messages were marked as read. Maybe it was because I mentioned that I’m JEWISH and have some restrictions on the Shabat, and they don’t like JEWS. I can’t be sure, but they should at least have answered and told me. Customers deserve better service.

The location is good, and in the evening the breakfast area works as a decent restaurant. The hallways, though, are dated and dirty, with significant stains on the carpet. The rooms are okay.
