That night at Next hotel, I was there with my mum and sister. Our first room was on the ground floor for three people, but it had old marks on the towels, a filthy, worn-out toilet brush, and chewed gum by a pillow, even though the beds themselves were clean and made. There was also an unlocked door straight into the occupied room next door, with only paper stuffed into the keyhole. After we complained, the receptionist tried to sort it out and moved us upstairs to two rooms, after quite a climb. One was passable, but still dirty, with black hair, dusty carpets and an even worse toilet brush. The other had no windows. We could hear everything through the thin walls: someone watched TV until 3 a.m., then rap started next door at 5 a.m. We barely rested. I don't understand how this place got such good reviews. Dirty, poorly soundproofed, and definitely needs improvement.

This is my favorite hotel in Tashkent. Mr Yusufbek, the owner, is really nice and guided me a lot. I didn't know much about Uzbek som, so he would always help arrange the money for me. Everyone should visit this hotel.

We picked this hotel by chance, and the renovation is quite odd. There's no elevator or help with bags. The no-noise rule after 11 p.m. meant we ended up shouting in the lobby and out on the street. The bathroom was shabby, with peeling wallpaper, no shower curtain and a leaking shower head. Sound insulation was poor too. One bathroom door opened onto the hallway, while the other went into the room, which was bizarre. The staff were friendly, though, and they checked us in.

Horrible experience. We arrived at 7 in the morning after a 14-hour flight, tired and feeling dirty. A young man at reception told us there was a “server problem” and the room I'd booked a month earlier wasn't available. I got upset because that seemed unprofessional, and I didn't believe him as he calmly kept typing at his computer. He said he'd find us a similar room at another hotel and told us to come back at 1 p.m., the official check-in time. At 1, a different employee gave us the same explanation, so clearly the first person hadn't found a solution. The service was awful. After I complained, he offered free use of the lounge massage chair as an apology. We used it twice, then couldn't use it again because staff were always sitting on it chatting. We were exhausted and just wanted to lie down. After another half hour, they offered a cheaper room in the same hotel, for 25 euros a night instead of the 33 or 35 euros I'd originally booked for, I'm not sure which. I accepted because I felt so unwell and didn't have the energy to look elsewhere. I stupidly paid for two nights. Being tired doesn't help you make good decisions. We ended up paying 25 dollars a night for a tiny, filthy room: hair in the sheets and shower, a cat urine smell in the carpet, and mold in the bathroom. The only window looked into another room, the kitchen. The women preparing breakfast woke us at 5 a.m. During the night, guests and staff kept going in and out of the kitchen and turning on the light, which lit up our room each time and woke us. There was no air conditioning or ventilation. Opening the window brought an awful fried-food smell inside. The room was unbearably hot at night, making the cat urine smell even worse. It was miserable. I never saw the sauna or mini pool shown in the website photos. Staff made noise until 2 a.m. Breakfast looked bad and tasted bad, and a hotel woman insisted in Uzbek that we eat, which made me very uncomfortable. Beside the breakfast area, the Turkish toilet had urine on the floor and fecal marks. Three times, people entered our room without knocking because I'd forgotten to lock it. They saw us undressed on the bed and then left. I've never felt so uncomfortable. Nobody apologized. They also made us cancel our Booking reservation to get the room, which was clever of them since then we couldn't leave a review there. I'm reporting them to Booking. Seeing their reply to the review before mine only reinforced my feeling that they're dishonest. Honestly, for 25 euros a night, go somewhere else. There are a thousand places much better at the same price, at least in terms of cleanliness. You don't need to stay at the Hilton to get a clean room. I'm not fussy or looking for luxury. This place is a disgrace in every way, and don't tell me it's good value. You can find a thousand times better for 25 euros a night.
