On January 26, roughly between 8:30 and 8:40 a.m. and around that period, I observed the breakfast service on site. As a management audit inspector involved in operational processes, service discipline, and oversight, I have to say the service that morning fell clearly below the basic standards of a normally run hotel. The conditions were also, in my view, verifiable on CCTV. There seemed to be enough staff in the breakfast area, but nobody came over to offer coffee or tea. After waiting at my seat, I tried to find someone. Some staff appeared to deliberately avoid guests’ eye contact, and their manner was noticeably passive. I eventually had to call out loudly to get attention and clearly ordered two coffees. A staff member repeated the order and walked toward the coffee area, but a considerable time passed and the drinks still didn’t arrive. So I went to the coffee counter myself. At about 8:34 a.m., it was completely unattended. The only staff member I could see was putting on makeup in the open coffee area, seemingly unconcerned with guests needing service. I had to raise my voice twice to get any response while dining. Later, I saw several staff members gathered and chatting in that same area, which suggested a lack of immediate supervision and basic service discipline. A sign in front of the coffee counter said, “Please order coffee from your seat,” but table service wasn’t actually happening. The sign and the service process clearly didn’t match. Staff removed the sign at around 9:20 a.m., which also suggested there weren’t consistent procedures or clear direction from management. The coffee station is one of the first and most visible service points guests encounter in the dining room. What I saw seemed to reflect a wider failure in staff deployment and on-site management, rather than one individual staff problem, and it directly affected my impression of breakfast service. Breakfast at most four-star hotels in Hanoi generally has a stable, professional standard; this service fell short of that level. This lax approach also felt unfair to other staff, such as the front desk and public-area cleaning teams, who maintain a professional standard in their roles. I documented the procedures and conditions I observed and plan to use them for industry training and case-study sharing after I return.

As photographers, we really notice good architecture, and this hotel is beautifully designed throughout. We had a great stay at L7 Lotte West Lake in Hanoi. Our suite was spotless and comfortable, and everyone we met was kind and accommodating. We especially liked the rooftop infinity pool and its view, the big gym, and Lush cafe.

The food was wonderful, but the service is what made the visit stand out. Trang Channe was especially attentive and professional, and made sure every detail was taken care of. A remarkable experience, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for top-notch service.

Having the mall directly connected to L7 Westlake made everything so convenient, with what we needed right nearby. The hotel is modern and beautiful, and the staff went out of their way to make our stay feel special. We loved it, and we’ll definitely return. Highly recommend.
