Tung Trang Hotel

We were new to Vietnam and had no idea where to stay, so finding Tung Trang worked out really well. It’s a small family-run place, with friendly, helpful owners and clean, comfortable rooms. The price was right too. Staying in the middle of the Old Quarter made it a great starting point for exploring. I’d come back if I get the chance.

The room was dusty and grimy, with cobwebs and dirt that made it look like it hadn’t been properly cleaned in ages. There were bugs too, including small cockroaches and possibly bed bugs. On arrival, I found stains on the top sheet. When I asked for a clean one, the staff member got an attitude and insisted it had just been washed. The room also didn’t look like the photos on the booking site. I’d strongly advise against booking here.

We had a relaxing balcony in our room, and plenty of restaurants and attractions were within walking distance. The hosts were caring, kind, and helpful, and did a lot to make our stay comfortable. The location puts you close to the main sights, but in a quieter spot away from Hanoi’s bustle. We had a great stay.

We originally booked two nights and stayed for three. The family who own the hotel helped with everything, from an airport pickup at 2am to arranging our sleeper bus to Sapa. They replied to our questions before we arrived, took time to chat, and answered all our tourist questions. Their help made Hanoi’s lovely chaos a lot less stressful. The hotel is tucked into an alley in the middle of the Old quarter. You can walk everywhere, yet it’s quiet enough to rest after a full day out. The water pressure was great and the hot shower worked all day. It was well worth the price, and I’d have stayed longer if we weren’t heading to other provinces. Thank you!
