They hadn't marked that I arrived for my booking, so I couldn't leave a review on hostelworld and may be charged twice. I was also caught off guard by their rule that they don't accept cards at certain times, since it wasn't advertised and nobody told me there was a morning payment option. With an injured leg, I ended up walking to four ATMs in the middle of the night. The staff just shrugged and said, "well you didn't ask." On top of that, the shelf for belongings was crooked and everything fell onto my head during the night.

The staff were friendly and always greeted me with a smile, and someone was at reception whenever I needed help. Everything felt clean and hygienic, including the unisex restroom, which housekeeping kept dry and tidy. It was a comfortable stay and worth the price. I'd be happy to come back.

I booked through trip.com because I didn't want to deal with paying cash at the hostel. My guess was that cash is their preference at check-in. The booking itself took ages to confirm, then they cancelled just ten minutes before they had to respond. When I checked, there were still beds available, so I'm not sure why that happened. It's a small annoyance, but perhaps they don't check bookings regularly and it was automatically cancelled because they hadn't confirmed.

I felt at home at Alleyway Hostel. The chill room was peaceful and relaxing, and I often used it for my online yoga classes. The staff were all so welcoming and friendly, and made my stay special. Thanks to the owner and everyone on the team. I definitely want to return. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a warm, personal hostel atmosphere. 🙏😊
