Dong Xuan Hong Hotel

The rooms are fine for the price, and there’s a nice pool and garden area that helps you forget you’re right on the main road. They gave us a top corner room after we asked for somewhere high and quiet, which we appreciated. The cleaning was a surprise, though. There were lots of dead moths and bugs on the wall behind the bed, as if they’d been sprayed and left there for a while. My husband removed them in a minute, so I don’t understand why housekeeping hadn’t. We only got one small towel each, the bedding had no covers, and there were footprints and marks on the wall that a good clean should remove. If I came back to the area, I’d stay a little further down where there are more bars and away from the main road.

The price is good if you’re planning a longer stay, and the location is handy, right by the famous Bun Quay noodle restaurant and the bus stop to Vin Wonder. The room itself is outdated, with old amenities. I’d give it 3 stars, but the swimming area is nice and clean, so I’m giving 4.

The room was spacious, though a bit outdated. If a pool or garden doesn’t matter to you, there are nearby hotels at similar prices in slightly better condition. Here, the garden is lush and the pool is well kept, which you wouldn’t expect from the street. Reception can help out; not everyone speaks English well, but translation helps. The cleaning staff and maintenance guys were lovely. Location is a big plus, and there’s scooter parking in front of the hotel.

I’d book here again. The room was just okay for the price, which felt fair, and the location worked really well for me: the gym was a minute away, King Kong market about four minutes, the night market maybe six, and the fish market less than ten.
