The garden is wonderful, with a fish pond, and the second bedroom opens straight onto it through patio doors. Inside, everything seems to have been thought of and provided, including a full gas stove in the kitchen. It was a lovely surprise from the moment we came in the front door. I’d love to spend a whole holiday here.

We had a private garden with a Weber braai, and Stanley Street’s lively, cosmopolitan restaurants are within walking distance. The two-bedroom, two-bathroom self-catering cottage is nicely decorated and well equipped, with comfortable beds and great linen. It’s a lovely little place. One downside: mosquitoes kept us awake at night, so bring repellent.
