Hartbeespoort Holiday Resort

I had a nice time, but it was overcrowded, with too many kids in the pools and on the slides. If it was this packed during the week, I can imagine how it gets on weekends. The toilets were dirty. I can't blame the resort for people making a mess, and a woman did come to clean around 15:30, but they got dirty again. Parking filled up too, leaving cars exposed to the heat or rain without tree cover.

Our kids had fun at the water park, and we enjoyed the day enough that we'd like to return. But it was frustrating to be made to leave the pools at 16:30, when the summer sun doesn't set until 19:00. It's an expensive day out, and people want to swim. Why not leave them open until 17:30? The music was poor and blared across the whole park, making it feel like a shebeen or club. They could play something more neutral that suits everyone.

We went for a day visit. It's a great place for kids and adults who can't swim, since I think all the pools are 1.2m deep or less. The slides are great, though they need more inflatables. There are no trees for shade around the pools, but there are enough maki and permanent gazebos. The service for day visitors was second rate, and for the same reasons I wouldn't try staying at the resort. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice place to visit, just not up to international standards. It's okay.

When people raise problems in reviews, replying with “Thank you. We appreciate your feedback” is utter rubbish. Grow a pair, grootseun. Tell people what you're going to do to improve things, or apologize. There are other resorts in the area, and I think I'll skip this one completely.
