Rose of Sharon

The rooms felt safe to stay in and smelled nice, and the room service was top of the class. Management was professional and well organized, and the people were humble and loving.

Our daughter loved it and wants to come back. We stayed at rose of Sharon, where the rooms were clean and neat, and the couple were so warm, helpful and accommodating. They made us feel at home away from home. Thanks to the owners for a lovely stay. We’d definitely visit again.

The rooms themselves were clean, comfortable, big and nice, but the hosts were very unprofessional and rude. We tried to book while driving down, and they demanded payment upfront to reserve the room. When we arrived, there was no POS device to swipe, so they demanded an immediate EFT instead. It took about an hour for the EFT to go through with ABSA. While we waited, they made us feel like criminals, basically held our possessions hostage, and wouldn’t give us the room keys. The accommodation would have been comfortable, but the way they treated us is reason enough for me never to return. A kind note to the owner: treating customers like criminals isn’t a way to run a business.

For a family that isn’t after five-star accommodation, this is a good, comparatively reasonable place. We paid about R5000 for four nights for six people. With neither DSTV nor wifi, we had a good chance to bond as a family.
