1804 Franklin 3-Bed Penthouse with Rooftop Jacuzzi

We had booked and checked in for a weekend, but checked right back out. The apartment itself was good. The surrounding area didn’t feel safe at all, and it didn’t seem suitable for older visitors or tourists generally. We felt we’d need an Uber every time we left.

I really loved the peace and quiet we found @The Franklin this long weekend@1512. For a peaceful place to spend time together in my worldclass African City of Johannesburg, visit the Franklin.

There’s nothing luxurious about this place. We were there to shoot, and the way we were treated was appalling. Communication was terrible. When we arrived there was no electricity, so we couldn’t film for an hour or two. We asked what was going on, and the owner just said he doesn’t work for City of Johannesburg and it wasn’t his problem. Some of our crew then got stuck in a lift. Staff took a while to help and never apologized afterward. The lifts also seem poorly maintained and could be hazardous to visitors. During the shoot, a woman came at 5 a.m. to push us out, saying it was time to check out. She wouldn’t let us work properly until we were allowed to leave, and inspected rooms while we were still in them, just to flex on us. If you need somewhere to sleep or a location to shoot, this isn’t it.

The apartment had all the practical things I needed, including cutlery, an iron and ironing board, extra outlets for charging my phone, and an adaptor. I also liked the entertainment channels, from music to cartoons, and the books available to read. The design and decor throughout the place are lovely. They’ve clearly put effort into making a stay pleasant and enjoyable. I’d give it five stars without hesitation.
