The Parkwood

The staff were so warm and welcoming, and the location worked really well for guided tours of Jburg and Soweto. After my 15-hour flight, a great back massage helped loosen up my muscles. The outside showers were hot in the mornings, and breakfast was excellent. This is a beautiful boutique hotel in Johannesburg SA. We stayed two nights, and the first evening's lasagne was fabulous, especially after arriving late.

The bathroom really stood out, especially the spa tub with power jets and the heated carpet. My room felt luxurious, and the thoughtful details made it a 10/10 stay. Breakfast had plenty of fresh things I enjoyed, like seeded bread, bacon, avocado, muesli, granola, Woolworths yogurt, fruit and cranberry juice. The hot choices were a bit limited if you don't eat eggs, mushrooms or tomatoes. Parkwood Boutique Guest House is peaceful and elegant, with attentive staff and a lovely lounge and dining area. Check-in was easy, and a friendly gentleman helped with my bags and showed me around, including the Honor Area with an ice maker and tea and coffee facilities. A couple of things were less ideal: the bar fridge items weren't complimentary, and the morning water was warm rather than hot, which was inconvenient in winter. I also saw spiders under the vanity sink. That unsettled me because I'm phobic, but it was late and I didn't contact staff. I'd happily return for a special getaway or an event in the area.

The rooms are roomy and comfortable, and the food is excellent. Everyone on staff was friendly and ready to help with whatever we needed. The Parkwood is a small boutique hotel, but the service and overall experience felt like a polished six-star place that costs a lot more. As others have mentioned, JP is an absolute gem.

JP made a wonderful host, and the property felt cozy and was well cared for. Breakfast was delicious too. I'd happily stay at The Parkwood again.
