Hotel Margit feels like staying with family friends. The owners treated us personally and made sure we had everything we needed from arrival to departure. Though the building looks small and authentic outside, the rooms and amenities inside are very modern, which was a lovely surprise. The location is spot on for reaching the main hiking areas. There’s also a new public pool just across the street, free with the guest card. A warm and welcoming place, highly recommended.

We were a group of 10, and our host Manuel had learned everyone’s name on the first night. By our second breakfast he even knew how each of us took our coffee, apart from mine, which took another day because my taste is pretty weird. I can be a bit childish about it. The staff were super friendly, and the food at Hotel Margit was the best we had on our trip through Germany and Austria. It was fresh and varied, unlike the fries and fried food we kept finding elsewhere. I visited for about a week in July and should’ve written this ages ago, but life got in the way. One of my best hotel stays ever, maybe the best. I can absolutely recommend it.

We met plenty of people who’ve returned to this area and Hotel Margit for years. The skiing is varied, with something fun and challenging for everyone. One local tip: tell the green line bus driver where you want to get off, since they don’t always announce stops or check, and you could end up riding the whole valley. This is a delightful family-run hotel in classic Tyrolean style. It’s a three-minute walk to the Hintertux Valley ski bus stop and five minutes uphill to the Finkenberger lift and its fun après-ski bar. Guests get warm, personal attention without it feeling intrusive. Manuel even called on our arrival day to see how the journey was going and ask what we’d like for dinner. The food was delicious, with a generous buffet breakfast and five-course dinners. The rooms and spa area were quiet, newly refurbished, comfortable, and spotless. If it’s available, book it, you won’t be disappointed.

Manuel, Magdalena, Franz and Margit always had a smile for us. Whenever we wanted ideas for hikes or trips, we just asked and got lots of information. There’s also a sauna to unwind in. The food was delicious, with something for both young and old. The rooms have a modern look, while the dining room and bar keep an authentic feel. We had a splendid holiday here.
