Coral Sands Motel

I’m here regularly for work, and it’s consistently good value. The rooms are basic but clean, with useful things like a kettle and microwave. The pool and laundry are handy, and there are cafes, restaurants, and shops close by. The owners are friendly, too.

I was welcomed warmly at reception, and the basic room had what I needed. Parking is covered, though tight. The noise is why I’m giving this place a low rating. My room backed onto a Chinese restaurant, and the bathroom window had fixed glass slats that couldn’t be closed. For hours each night, the clatter of dishes and woks carried straight into the room. There was also an irritating water hammer in the wall beside the double bed. On top of that, mine workers and tradies sat outside their rooms drinking beer and talking loudly until 11:30pm. Letting off steam is fine, but they should have quietened down by 10pm and considered the other guests. This happened on more than one night, and they seemed not to care that sound carries at night. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this motel.

There are lots of restaurants within walking distance, so the central location worked perfectly for an overnight stay. I found the service excellent from the moment I arrived, and there was plenty of undercover parking. The room was tidy and the bed comfortable.

The spa bath room was cosy, clean, and quiet, and the price was hard to complain about. Laundry was really cheap, and the timing worked out perfectly while we had a dip in the pool. There’s a great restaurant right out front, the front desk was friendly and accommodating, and the location made it easy to get into town.
