Hi-Way Units Motel

The owners were friendly and helpful, and staff answered all our questions well. The hotel isn’t new, but it’s clean, tidy and nicely presented. I arrived at night to find the air conditioning already on, which was a lovely surprise with it still over 35 degrees outside. The room was great, and both the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. There was a full jug of water in the fridge and two trays of ice in the freezer. The hotel has a TV, Wi-Fi, pool, BBQ area and a smoking area, though smoking isn’t allowed in or near the rooms. One heads-up: Red Rooster wouldn’t deliver to the hotel’s postcode when I tried ordering on its website. There’s a nearby Chinese place, Dragon Magic noodle house, that delivered amazing food within 30 minutes. Loved staying here.

After six or seven stays here, I still wouldn’t choose anywhere else in Mackay. The rooms are comfortable and very well equipped, the staff are lovely, and everything is always meticulously clean and tidy.

We’ve stayed in some great places, but this was one of the best. The staff were great, the price was decent and the beds were comfortable. The pool was lovely too, with lots of toys.

We’re a family of six and found the rates excellent. The place was really comfortable and friendly. We usually stay at caravan parks in ensuite villas, but this was bigger, better and cheaper.
