Quest Mackay on Gordon

We’d planned to drive the three hours home, but we were tired and made an impromptu booking to stay one night in Mackay. So glad we did. The one-bedroom apartment was great, and we loved the room and service. We’ll be back. Thank you!

The location worked well for our Greyhound bus trip, with the stop a five-minute walk away. Just note the route isn’t very well lit at night, though that’s not the property’s fault. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and quickly helped with all my questions. My room was huge, almost like a small apartment, spotless, and had all the facilities I needed. A fantastic stay at Quest Mackay, thank you!

I had booked well in advance to avoid the higher cost of a last-minute stay, so being told to find another hotel was especially frustrating. After waiting an hour to check in, I learned that the air conditioning in my room wasn’t working. I understand maintenance problems happen, but the receptionist showed no empathy or even offered an apology. They said the hotel was fully booked, and when I asked whether there’d be any compensation for the inconvenience, the answer was a cold “no.” There was no flexibility or willingness to help. I travel frequently for work and expect a certain level of service when things go wrong. This experience has made me reconsider returning to Quest Mackay.

The room had a good amount of space, with a kitchenette and a lounge seating area. There’s also a large balcony with city views, plus a big pool and a good gym.
