Salt Box Hideaways

The little shed's interior is tastefully designed, though the space is small, so be prepared for that. The exterior looks old, apparently because its heritage status prevents updates. The harbour view is good, and the east-facing aspect gets a nice amount of sunlight. Ducks wander along the riverbank, and the tucked-away setting is quiet, with the ocean probably being the loudest thing you'll hear. We didn't mind the bed being against two walls, though we know some other guests had an issue with it. Read the website history before you go so you know what to expect. With that in mind, it was still worth staying here.

The complimentary breakfast was such a thoughtful touch, and the small details made our stay special: port to enjoy at night, a cosy electric fire, and a bed so comfortable it felt like a cloud. The views were stunning and the atmosphere cosy and relaxing. We absolutely loved the salt box hideaway in Strahan and can't wait to return for longer. Thanks so much for having us :)

The clever design makes really good use of a small space, and unit 91 (AirBNB) was fantastic. It's right on the water and about two minutes from the centre of Strachan, so the location is brilliant. This is an excellent little place to stay, and I can't recommend it highly enough. Sadly, it rained the night we were there, so we couldn't enjoy the outdoor fireside sitting area.

We stayed in Saltbox 1, and it was the best accommodation of our two-week trip around Tassie. Breakfast was included too. Such a gem of a hideaway. Book at least two nights so you have time to soak up the serenity.
