Snuffel Backpacker Hostel

I came as part of an event and didn’t book the place myself, so I can’t comment on the price. The breakfast was really good, and there’s a lovely courtyard downstairs with a large bar area. My room was spacious, with great beds. It didn’t have a private bathroom, but the big shared bathrooms down the hall had excellent showers in roomy cubicles. The bathrooms were supposedly cleaned daily, but I only saw them cleaned once during our three-day stay. Maybe that was unusual. The building also doesn’t block sound very well. Our windows overlooked the central courtyard, and we could hear people talking whether the windows were open or shut. Guests are expected to leave the courtyard at midnight, so it wasn’t noisy all night, but doors slamming and similar sounds carried too. I sleep through anything, so it didn’t bother me. Light sleepers might want to choose their room carefully. Free earplugs are available in the lobby. The location is central without being too busy.

The location was really convenient, about a ten-minute walk to the centre and with a bus stop for the station nearby. After checking out, we could leave our luggage in basement lockers. Staff were super friendly, and there’s a shared kitchen if you want to prepare your own food. We had a basic two-bedroom hostel room with a shared bathroom, but it had what we needed, including bedside sockets and lockers for our luggage. The bathrooms were just down the corridor. We paid for breakfast, which was a good choice since food in Bruges is expensive. It included yoghurt, fruit, eggs, bread, cheese, and tea and coffee with soy milk options. We stayed Friday night, and the bar was lively and busy, with music until 1am.

The team made the stay, welcoming and attentive from beginning to end. Everything was spotless and had what a traveler might need, and the luggage storage was great too. A clean, comfortable place with a 10/10 experience.

A comfortable, spacious room for two, very friendly staff, and a great location. The hostel is excellent value, with a lovely bar serving cheap drinks and pizza, plus a nice little kitchen and lounge. The only small drawback was the noise on Friday night. The bar draws lots of visitors and locals, and it was very loud until 1am. Ask for a room away from the courtyard.
