Wellness B&B Sweet Bonihu

Honestly, it felt like a magical experience.

We left feeling very happy with our stay. The room was spectacular, genuinely five stars, and breakfast was very good. The basket full of food was a lovely touch. We were welcomed warmly, and the location worked well for exploring Bruges, just a short walk away through safe neighborhoods.

I booked De Loft at Wellness Sweet Bonihu as a surprise for my husband for our 21st wedding anniversary, but had to cancel when he needed to fly for work. I told Erwin at the accommodation 72 hours ahead, before the 48-hour cancellation deadline, and he confirmed by email that everything was in order. I was told the full amount would be refunded a week after the date. When nothing came through, I emailed to ask about it and got a blunt reply saying, again, that it would be another week. A few more days passed without a refund. My calls went unanswered, and I sent more emails and messages through the contact page when I stopped getting replies. Then they suddenly asked me for a confirmation email I had never received. I sent the booking number and proof of payment several times. Weeks later, I was told they normally don’t refund cancellations. I explained again that I had cancelled in time and that they had confirmed it was okay. They then claimed I had cancelled because dogs weren’t allowed to be left alone there, even though I had only asked about that, and had clearly told them my husband had to fly for work. Eventually they emailed that my cancellation and supposed failure to send a cancellation email had caused extra investigation costs. That’s strange, since they had confirmed things were fine after I sent everything. They charged €50 in investigation costs, which had never been mentioned and isn’t in the cancellation terms. I can’t say what staying there is like. This is only about booking directly and cancelling on time. In short, don’t book directly with them.

After a busy day in Bruges, the wellness loft was just right for unwinding. We enjoyed the sauna and jacuzzi, and in the morning had a delicious breakfast in the sun on the rooftop terrace. There was plenty to choose from and nothing was missing. The owners were incredibly friendly, and the room was lovely, clean, and fully equipped. We’ll recommend Sweet Bonihu to friends and would stay here again if we’re in the area.
