Novotel Brussels off Grand'Place

The breakfast was perfect, and the room suited our needs well. My 9-year old daughter was delighted with the lovely plush toys they gave her when we arrived. The staff were incredibly friendly throughout our wonderful stay, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

What stood out most was the staff. Every person we dealt with was friendly, helpful, polite and accommodating. I’ve had mixed experiences with Novotel staff, especially in France and Spain, where some were unhelpful, but this team was superb. The hotel is wonderfully central in Brussels, close to the central train station and shopping. The room was very nice and well equipped. I also liked having a proper menu selection in the bar/restaurant, rather than the limited, non standard food many Novotels offer.

I enjoyed the stay overall, and the hotel is very central, within walking distance of tourist attractions and the central train station. I got an early check in after my early flight, which was nice. Still, there were some disappointments. As an Accor Gold member, I was promised an Executive room upgrade, and receptionists told me directly I’d get one. Instead, I was given a standard double room, so the hotel didn’t deliver on its promise. The room could have been much cleaner, and housekeeping could have done a better job. The toilet was separate too, which won’t suit some guests. It was a good stay, but I’ve stayed at better Novotel Hotels.

The location made getting around the centre easy, and the rooms were clean and tidy. Dylon and the other staff were really helpful with advice and recommendations. The woman checking me in seemed a little stressed, though. Breakfast was a letdown: the hot food was cold because the hot station had a problem. I mentioned it at reception when checking out, but got no explanation or discount.
