Hotel Norbuling

The rooms are spacious, clean, and well maintained, and the price felt right for such a good location. Staff were friendly and courteous. The restaurant food was very good, especially the handmade flat noodles, and breakfast had a good spread.

The complimentary breakfast was really nice, and the restaurant had good food and ambiance. The staff were warm and cordial, and the rooms were kept neat. This was one of the most spacious hotels I stayed in Bhutan. It’s worth the money, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone coming to Thimpu.

The room and location were good, and I liked the hotel a lot until checkout. I stayed from April 1 to 5, 2019. Our plane left very early, so we asked for a wake-up call and an airport drop, specifically requesting a large car. They said they’d arrange it, but that morning they forgot both the call and the car. After we reminded them, they sent a car that was far too small for us. What bothered me most was that the receptionist didn’t seem concerned about the inconvenience. Management should pay closer attention to these arrangements.

The executive room was okay, but overpriced. There’s no view from the rooms because the neighboring hotels block it, and you can’t even open the windows. The hotel is right on the main road and near the clock tower. Staff were lazy and impolite. At checkout they refused to take my luggage from the room, and the spa was very inefficient. The restaurant was very poor, with overpriced food that took an hour to prepare, no matter what plate I ordered. It seemed to be run by a bunch of unprofessionals. Breakfast wasn’t included; 550 bought only very basic items and wasn’t worth it. The hotel hadn’t paid the cable operator, so from April 1 there were no paid channels, only a few free ones on the TV. The front desk was also reluctant to prepare the final bill. I asked at 4 p.m. the day before checkout, but it wasn’t ready until 9:30 p.m. A very sad experience. Shabby people visited the hotel and restaurant (gaga), and I felt unsafe with my family. Not suitable for a family visit.
