Thori Resort

The room had a lovely view, with Buddha point right in sight. The hotel sits high on a hill, which is a real plus. Food was good, and the young crew were clearly trying hard to make guests happy. I appreciate the effort. A very decent place.

The valley view is breathtaking, with Buddha Dordenma right in front of the resort. It’s a little outside the main town, which suited me as a solo traveller looking for a quiet break. I was on my own there, but the staff looked after me so well that I never felt unsafe.

The view from the balcony covers the whole city, and Buddha point sits at about the same height. You can see the Buddha statue from the window, with great scenery in the morning and at night. The rooms are large, comfortable and heated, and the staff are friendly. We were nine people in four rooms on one floor, and they even made us a bonfire on arrival. The weak spot was food. There wasn’t much available, and you’re supposed to order a day ahead, but even then you might not get it. The resort is 6km from the city, so they have to go down and buy what’s needed. Still, one of the best resorts I stayed at in Bhutan, and I’d give it more stars if I could. Best resort in Thimphu, maybe Bhutan.

Waking up to the view of Thimphu from this high hillside resort is the kind of thing that stays with you. The rooms are really cozy, and the people there make you feel at home. If you're staying in Thimphu, Thori resort is an easy choice.
