Banff Rocky Mountain Resort

I've been coming back every year for almost 20 years, and it's still fantastic. Being a little outside town means lovely forest around us and Tunnel Mountain just down the road. The shuttle runs around midday to help get you into town, and I love the perks of being away from the centre. The units feel like home, with lots of space and comfortable beds. It's great to have a kitchen for making a few meals, and the bathtub is lovely. The pool area is nice, and when it's open the outdoor hot tub is awesome. Highly recommend staying here.

Being just outside Banff made this a lovely escape when we wanted a break from town. The pool and outdoor hot tub were beautiful, the room was clean, and the staff were wonderful, helping with whatever we needed whenever we needed it. The facilities included laundry too. On our last day, while packing to check out, we found mouse droppings in one cupboard. Staff assured us it would be dealt with. Despite that, we had a great stay.

The room was clean, and check-in and checkout went really smoothly. One issue was a low-battery fire alarm warning in the room when we arrived. It took hours to fix, though it was sorted well before bedtime. I also noticed the kitchen sink had started coming loose from the countertop. I told the front desk, and they said they'd fix it after we checked out. The rooms are in the surrounding compound rather than attached to the lobby. It's easy to find, the first business you reach when entering from the Alberta side of the highway.

The location near several ski hills and the decent family rooms were about the only positives for us. Our room stayed freezing all night because the thermostat didn't work, and the bed had just thin sheets plus one thin spare blanket. Staff weren't helpful. The pool was hard to enjoy with lots of kids yelling and doing cannonballs into the hot tub while we tried to relax. Then the skimpy breakfast was $24 per person. Definitely not worth it, and I wouldn't recommend it.
