Quality Inn & Suites Bathurst

The hotel was good value, clean, and served a good breakfast, with staff regularly cleaning and restocking the food. It’s a bit far from downtown and the restaurants and entertainment. But be careful with valuables in your vehicle. Someone tried to steal our bikes overnight while we were parked out front, in front of a camera. They cut one of our three good locks, but couldn’t get the bikes off the locking rack. The front desk apologized and offered to replace the lock. Staff said vehicle thefts and attempted thefts in the hotel lot have been increasing. Take precautions.

We didn’t hear any traffic noise from our room, even though the hotel is on a major street. It’s also close to a gas station, several restaurants, a large grocery store, and convenience stores, with downtown Bathurst not far away if you want to explore. Staff were professional and helpful, and our room and bathroom were very clean. The furniture was dated in places, but the bed and pillows were comfortable. The air conditioner struggled to keep the room cool during the day, though it was fine once the outside temperature dropped in the evening. Breakfast was okay and had several choices, but the powdered eggs tasted bland, so I’d avoid those.

We chose Quality Inn Bathurst for an overnight stay before my son’s important hospital appointment, based on the hospital’s recommendation. We needed rest and peace of mind before his cochlear implant activation, but left feeling stressed and disrespected. I don’t usually write reviews, but this stay made me speak up. The carpet was so sticky that we wore slippers the whole time, and my children spotted several bugs in the bathroom. The room’s condition was unacceptable. At breakfast, I was making waffles for my family when a staff member abruptly told me to stop halfway through because someone else was going to use it. Her tone felt rude and dismissive, and the interruption was uncalled for when we were trying to have a quiet meal before a major day. I hope management takes this seriously for future guests.

We stayed down the road at the Best Western instead, and the service, cleanliness, and food were far better. Don’t waste your time with this incredibly disappointing hotel.
