The room this time was dirty, smoky, small, and dingy, facing the highway. We'd asked for room 4 by the river, where we'd stayed three weeks earlier, and planned to return regularly because we have family nearby. Instead we got room 9. I can't get past how angry I felt during this stay, and a view wouldn't make up for it. Run, don't walk. We stayed October 3 and 4, 2025, after that pleasant visit. I called and was quoted $100 a night, then saw Booking.com listed $95. When I asked about the difference, the owner was very rude, saying Booking charges commission and he needs to charge more. He said he'd honor $95, then quoted $247 for two nights. I pointed out that wasn't right, and he yelled, “There’s tax, you know. You know about tax!!!” He eventually corrected the addition.

The rooms are comfortable, and the riverfront location is stunning. I stay at the Johnstown on every road trip through and wouldn't stay anywhere else. Roger and Joan are delightful hosts. They've gone above and beyond for me and my son more than once.

We had a view of the St Laurent, and the bedding was beautiful. Our small room had a king size bed that was clean and comfortable, along with a fridge, coffee maker, microwave, and tv. Everything was updated and very clean. It was a shower only, and the shower head came up to about my neck, so I had to bend a bit to get my hair wet. Great motel.

The river view is nice, and maybe the dock would be a reason to stay, though I don't know about it. The place is pretty run down, with no pool and nothing to do except sleep. If the room were clean, the price might be okay, but I wouldn't pay over $100 for a room.

We booked one night at the Johnstown Motel while our bedroom was being renovated in Cardinal, then liked our King Bed room enough to stay a second night. The room was immaculate and its layout was very pleasing. It had a good TV with numerous satellite stations, and a lovely view. We also walked down to the riverfront and relaxed on a bench at their dock. The owners are a lovely couple who greeted us with open arms.
