The location was good, but the room had a funky smell and cigarette burns on the furniture. The bed sagged like a hammock, probably after decades of use, and the receptionist wasn’t polite. I wouldn’t recommend it to family or friends. Spend another $30-$50 and stay somewhere much more decent.

The rooms are dated and need some repairs, but I stayed five nights last year and got clean sheets every day. The staff were friendly and very helpful, and the restaurant was amazing, with great food. I’d booked a week in July but had to cancel for health reasons. As soon as I’m back on my feet, I’ll return.

We paid $139 plus tax thinking this would be a great place to stay, but the room was disgusting. The small window leaked from both the top and bottom, and its opening was partly covered with a thin piece of wood full of holes, so wind and rain came straight in. We blocked the openings with pillows and towels, but by morning the floor was soaked. There were holes in the ceiling, and we could hear every noise from upstairs. The room wasn’t very clean. We noticed a bit of cat urine smell, then found two bags of cat food in the nightstand drawer. This room, number 34, wasn’t worth more than $20. Check out the pictures. We arrived two hours before the hurricane hit Halifax. The rain was coming down hard, and we got drenched carrying our suitcases up the exterior stairs. We were appalled by the room, but it was the last one available and the rain made it impossible to go back out. All the other hotels were booked because of the storm.

Dwayne at the front desk was very helpful with our rooms and suggestions for things to see and do. The rooms were beautiful and very clean, and the restaurant next door was convenient. We could hear kids running around in rooms a few doors away pretty late because the rooms weren’t very soundproof. Still, we’d definitely stay again.

For the price, the room was in fair condition and the bed was comfortable enough. The receptionist was very helpful, pointing us to good food and sights as tourists. The curtain blocked the AC because of poor design, so we had to fold it back ourselves and prop it with water bottles. Adjusting the water temperature was also extremely touchy. A tiny misalignment of less than a millimeter could make it very cold or very hot.
