Meeting Natasha was a real pleasure. She clearly loves being the host and owner. We stayed two nights at The Secret Garden Inn, in the Coverdale room, which had a lovely modern three piece bathroom. The Victorian mansion has a real sense of history, and the downtown location makes it easy to walk to the waterfront and most other places. Breakfast was delicious, gourmet quality. Thanks for a great stay. John & Marlene

Three of us went for high tea and loved it. Natasha was attentive and personable, a lovely host. The tea was just right, and we got to smell samples of the loose leaves before choosing. Cha Cha Tea, a small local business, curates the teas. We’d recommend visiting them too, the owner and operator is so sweet and knowledgeable. The food was delicious, especially the savory snacks. The sweets were lovely too, though I only wished there had been more to eat.

What a gem of a B&B. Katlyn and Cyrus went far beyond what we expected, even letting us leave our car in the drive after checkout while we went on a boat trip. The breakfast and service were phenomenal. The owner met us before we’d even got out of the car and kindly moved hers so we could park our F150. I can’t recommend this Victorian home highly enough. Sadly, we only had one night on our quick tour of Canada. If we come back from England, this will be one of our go to places.

Breakfast was incredible, with a Japanese style dish during our stay, and the coffee was perfect. The McKay room was in great condition, with clean bedding, seating area, and bathroom. Towels, makeup remover, shower gels, and a small fridge were provided. We’d been called shortly before check-in with arrival instructions, and got settled soon after. Both innkeepers we met were professional, polite, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The Secret Garden Inn is full of history and sits in a historic part of the city. You can start a historic walk right outside, and downtown is just 5 to 10 minutes away on foot. I booked it as a surprise for my girlfriend, and it was a trip I won’t forget. We’ll definitely return. My only suggestion is to put a bottle or two of water in each mini fridge. Walking to the car for water at 4 am wasn’t ideal when we hadn’t brought our own, though that was more my fault than anyone else’s.

I’m partial to the Limestone room, since it comes with a private patio on the second floor. The Bader has the more luxurious shower, though, and every room has its own feature. The floors creak, but the house dates to 1888, so that’s part of staying in a heritage home. The parlor and library are quiet spots for a cocktail before walking down to the waterfront for the evening. Breakfast is hard to choose between savory and sweet, so it’s a treat if someone’s willing to split. The new okonomiyaki was a perfect bite, with pickled ginger, sriracha, and what I can only assume was kewpie mayo. You’ll be glad you stayed at this opulent heritage Bed & Breakfast.
