Hôtel Cofortel

Free parking and included breakfast were a big plus for our family stay at Hotel Cofortel. The rooms felt modern, clean, and comfortable, and the whole place was calm and relaxing. Restaurants are nearby, with a gas station right beside the property, and the location is convenient. I’d gladly stay again and recommend it to families visiting Quebec City.

There are five EV chargers, free breakfast, and plenty of space in the room, which also had a mini fridge and enough clothes hangers. The room and toilet were very clean. You can park right outside your room and use a second door that connects to the parking area. Breakfast is free, so I didn’t expect more than the eggs, cheese, spreads, breads, coffee, juice, tea, muffin, and yogurt on offer. There’s no pool, sauna, or jacuzzi. If you book directly on their website, you can ask about a combined discount for a spa near old quebec, but availability is limited, so ask soon after booking. Even if you reserve a first floor room, the front desk won’t guarantee the parking spot outside it or find another one if someone takes it. Get there early to park before others do. Bring slippers and a water bottle too, since the only water fountain is shared near reception. The walls don’t block sound well; noise from the parking lot, hallway, and upstairs rooms kept us from sleeping well. Housekeeping was especially uncomfortable. We checked out at 11:50 a.m., but from 8 a.m. they kept knocking to clean for the next guest instead of checking our status with reception or their system. I’ve never had a hotel do that.

The outside didn’t look that impressive, so I wasn’t sure at first after spending an hour searching for a place on our drive from NB to ON. Then we called, and Eve, I believe, was sweet and personable. She honored the online price without question and gave us a ground floor room with a door to the parking area. It’s central to the town’s amenities. Inside smelled clean and new, and the beds were very comfortable with four pillows each. It’s a two story hotel, and we slept great. We had dinner at Le Cage. The food and staff were great, though they forgot our order and then got it wrong when it arrived. They didn’t take anything off the bill. I was disappointed, but it was busy, the food was delicious, and I paid without complaining. The complimentary continental breakfast the next morning had a limited selection, as usual, with cold eggs, cereal, fresh muffins, good coffee, croissants, and a lovely assortment of fresh breads. No complaints from me!

The room and toilet were clean and well furnished, and the staff and reception were kind and helpful. Free on-site parking, including EV chargers, was a big plus. I also liked the low light in the toilet that stays on when the main light is off, handy at night. The AC makes a noticeable noise when running, but it’s bearable. There’s no microwave or kettle in the room, though you can use the shared one on the ground floor. Breakfast was very basic and below average, but it wasn’t a big deal since you can pick something. I’d absolutely return, as it’s clean and well furnished compared with many 4 and 5 star hotels we’ve tried.
