American Plaza Motel

I felt unwelcome and unsafe during my one-night stay, and I wouldn't want anyone else to have the same experience. At check-in, another customer asked the front desk woman for the Wi-Fi password, which she apparently didn't know. After that customer left, she looked at me and walked away. I had to ring the buzzer from the waiting area, and she said, "what the hell is his problem now" before taking another five minutes to come over. She also tried to charge me again even though I'd prepaid. When I checked out, the same woman rolled her eyes at me and again tried to make me pay. I hadn't been told I couldn't lock the door handle, so I needed someone to let me back in. The room was clean, but didn't feel like it met the proper standards. The stained shower curtain had marks that looked questionable, possibly like blood, and the shower didn't seem fully cleaned. Two of the three bathroom lights were missing, and there was no soap. The bedside light didn't work and looked like it might fall off, while the inside of the door had several dents that looked as if someone had hit it with a hammer or axe. The blanket was good, but felt like it hadn't been properly washed in weeks or longer. I wasn't given the Wi-Fi password, though I had mobile data and only stayed a night. The freezer compartment in the fridge looked like it had black mold, which seemed unsanitary and like a health hazard.

Around 3 pm on December 4, 2025, I was standing on the sidewalk looking at my phone for about 40 seconds. I wasn't a customer and hadn't had anything to do with the service, but the front desk manager, receptionist, or whatever he was, demanded that I come into his office. Once inside, I asked what he wanted. He yelled at the top of his voice that I needed to get out of a certain room. I don't remember the room number because I hadn't done anything in the first place. I just said okay and walked away. I don't know what was going on with him, but this kind of behavior could lead to major problems for the company, like lawsuits or property damage. Managers may want to look into what happened.

The sheets were stained and had cigarette burns, and there was some unknown crusted mess on the blanket. The rooms were dirty, and I never got a Wi-Fi password. I didn't try the free breakfast because I wouldn't trust food from a place this unclean. I would have stayed somewhere else if anything else had been available.

There was blood from the previous guests on the sink faucet and mirror, and there was no soap. The jacuzzi panels were off, facing right into the room, and old mayonnaise packets had been left around. To get into the room late at night, I first had to ask for a master key because the cleaners had left the doors improperly locked. When I reported the mess, I was told the cleaners don't always clean completely, or at all, and just make the bed, hopefully with new sheets. They said it was disgusting and apologized, then wished me a good rest of my stay. I didn't enjoy it, and they wouldn't refund my money. I'm looking into health inspectors. Too bad there's no zero-star option.
