I thought a debit card would work at check-in, since in my experience hotels use credit and debit cards pretty interchangeably as long as they can place a hold for possible damage. They required an actual credit card, which I didn’t have. The two sweet women at reception went above and beyond to sort it out so I could get to my room anyway. Aside from that hiccup, I had a very pleasant stay. The room was clean and comfortable, with everything I needed to feel at home. The location was convenient and near lots of restaurants, and I could get where I needed to go easily. It’s a six-minute walk to two metro stations. Great value, and I’d stay again.

Tourist attractions were an easy walk away, with cafes, bars, and restaurants nearby, so it seemed like good value. Just don’t expect too much, since this isn’t a hotel. It was my first night in Montreal, and I arrived late. The staff were helpful and explained everything. The room felt a bit cold, but I was exhausted and slept comfortably in the cozy bed. I woke up tired and went down for breakfast without expecting much. A staff member showed me to a seat, and there was a good range: waffles, crepes, toast, cereal, eggs, juice, coffee, tea, bananas, and cake. I left with a full stomach.

If you want peace and quiet, avoid this place. The nightclub right beside the hostel goes boom boom until 3:15 a.m.
