Clarion Hotel & Conference Centre

The one bright spot was the man at the front desk. He was kind and brought me an extra cot. I booked after seeing the website listed a sauna, workout room, billiard table, and pool. The pool was open, but the sauna and workout room were out of order, apparently for quite a while, and there was no billiard table. The TV in our room had no sound, and nobody cleaned the room during our stay. The pool washroom and change room were filthy. There were poop and pee stains on the toilet and seat, and on the floor. It was still like that when we came back to use the pool the next day, so I don't know how long it had been there. Staff were angry with my daughter over a snack size bag of chips at the pool and took it from her. They should be more concerned about the washroom cleanliness. If I’d known some listed amenities were out of order, I would have spent my money elsewhere. The manager wasn't there before checkout, and I don't know if reception will pass along my concerns. Sub-par quality.

Our family was very disappointed with what we paid for. We went down for breakfast and the free food wasn't very warm. The foyer has no proper carpet for wet shoes, so watch out on the bare floors. Pool lighting was very dark, and there were too few seats for more than three families. The room arrangements were also a problem: they first said there were no double queen rooms left, then offered a king with no pull out couch for our family of four. We were part of a hockey tournament in Pembroke and chose this hotel because we were told the kids could play mini sticks in the conference room. When they went down, a staff member said no and wouldn't even make eye contact. We called ahead to check and were told yes, so that felt like a lie to get our money. We also tried to book a conference room, but staff first said booking wasn't needed, then said we had to book months ahead, then said we couldn't book it. The rules seem to change with the situation. We've stayed at plenty of hotels that let kids play mini sticks. I don't recommend this place. Very poorly run hotel.

After a long, stressful day last week, Quality Inn felt like a relief. The room was comfortable and clean, check-in was easy, and the staff were kind. It was calm and relaxing, just what we needed. We'd stay again.

The room was okay, but the slippery bathtub had no grip at all and I nearly fell. I don't know if there are accessible rooms, but the bathrooms didn't seem handicap friendly. The breakfast was pitiful, maybe because we went on a weekday. I know hotels like this may not offer much, but there was hardly anything. Both hot items were burnt and tough, and the waffle batter was too watery. They said they had no more, and kept acting like I was using the waffle maker wrong. It felt like they were being lazy and cheap. They might as well skip breakfast and save the money if that's all they want to offer. The indoor pool barely had any heat either. Maybe that's because it was midweek, but I paid all this money and got very little. I'd rather stay at a Hilton.
